What a cookie is on this site
A cookie is a small text file a browser agrees to store for a host. Many sites use dozens of them to measure traffic or to follow a reader across pages. Thefitnessspace does not. The public pages are static PHP and CSS. They work if every cookie is blocked. The banner at the bottom of each page exists because we still need a way to remember that you have already answered, so the bar does not sit over the colophon on every visit. That memory is the only job a cookie has here.
The banner is visible until a choice is stored. It is not hidden with a default display:none in the style sheet. If JavaScript does not run, the bar stays on screen and the pages remain readable. If JavaScript does run, a click on Accept or Decline writes the value accept or decline to a cookie named tfs_consent and to localStorage under the same key, then hides the bar. No other attribute names are used. No other keys are written.
The cookie we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| tfs_consent | Stores the banner choice (accept or decline) so the notice can stay hidden on later visits | 180 days |
The same value is also written to localStorage under the key tfs_consent. Local storage is not a cookie. It lives in the browser until it is cleared. The script checks localStorage first when a page loads. If the key is already there, the banner receives the class is-hidden. If you clear cookies but leave localStorage, the bar may stay hidden. If you clear localStorage but leave the cookie, the bar may show again until the next click. Clearing both returns the site to the first-visit state. That is the intended way to withdraw the choice.
Decline is still a stored choice. It does not enable extra tracking, and Accept does not enable extra tracking either. Both buttons exist so that a person who wants the bar gone can put it away, and so that a person who wants a record of consent has one. Nothing else is switched on by Accept. There is no tag manager waiting behind the button.
What we do not set
We do not set cookies for advertising networks, social pixels, heat maps, or session replay. We do not load fonts from a host that then sets its own marketing cookie as a condition of reading this notice; the typefaces come from Google Fonts, which is a third-party request for files, not a Thefitnessspace tracking cookie. We do not place a cookie when you send the contact form. The form uses a hidden timestamp and a honeypot field in the page itself. Those values are not stored as cookies. Enquiry details are not saved on the server. The privacy notice describes that handling in full.
The Google Maps embed on the contact page is an iframe pointed at maps.google.com. That third-party frame may set its own cookies according to Google’s rules. We do not control those cookies and we do not read them. If you want to avoid them, decline is not enough; you would need to block third-party frames in the browser or skip the map and use the address in the sidenote, which is 56 Eng Hoon Street, #02-04, Tiong Bahru, Singapore 160056.
How to withdraw the choice
Clicking Decline writes decline and hides the bar. That is already a withdrawal of any later use of the cookie beyond remembering the withdrawal. If you want the bar back so you can choose again, delete tfs_consent from cookies and delete tfs_consent from localStorage, then reload. On most desktop browsers the steps look like this. Open the site settings for thefitnessspace.life. Open cookies and site data. Remove tfs_consent. Open the storage or local storage panel if your browser shows it separately, and remove the same key. Reload the page. The banner should appear.
On Safari, use Settings or Preferences, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data, search for thefitnessspace.life, and remove it. On Firefox, open the lock icon, then Clear cookies and site data. On Chrome, open the lock icon, then Cookies and site data, and delete the host. On a telephone the labels differ, but the idea is the same: remove data for this host, then reload. If you use a content blocker that strips all cookies, the site should still read normally. The banner may keep appearing, which is the honest result of having no memory.
How to ask a question
If this page and the behaviour of the banner do not match, write to [email protected] and describe the browser and what you clicked. We will treat that as a defect in the notice or in the script, not as a reason to add more cookies. This website is hosted on shared infrastructure located in Singapore. Changes to this notice, if they ever happen, will stay inside the same single-cookie design. The notice first applied in 2026, when the studio opened.
