Thefitnessspace

The floor

One floor, eight people, no queues.

The studio is a single open floor at 56 Eng Hoon Street, #02-04, Tiong Bahru. Slots are booked. The cap is eight people. The kit list is short and is used as written on the plan, not as a catalogue to wander through.

Room

A shophouse floor in Tiong Bahru

Thefitnessspace occupies one second-floor unit of about 180 square metres. The plate is open: racks along one side, a 14 m sled lane down the length, ergs against the far wall, and a mobility corner that does not steal the lifting stations. Ceilings are high enough for a standing press and for a hang from the bar without a crouched set-up. There is no separate studio-within-a-studio and no music booth. The room is meant to be read at a glance so a coach can see eight people without walking a corridor.

Ventilation is mechanical, with supply and extract run through the working day, and windows on the Eng Hoon side that open when weather allows. The floor is rubber over a stable deck. Changing space is small and is not a lounge. You come for a booked hour and you leave when the hour ends, which is how eight people stay eight people. The studio has run this way since it opened in 2026.

Kit

Floor specification

Zones, kit, and how many people each zone holds
Zone Kit Capacity
Lifting line 6 stations, calibrated plates, barbells 6 working at once
Free-weight area Dumbbells, kettlebells, flat bench 2, shared with accessories
Erg wall 2 rowers, 2 bike ergs 4
Sled lane 14 m track, one sled 1 working, 1 waiting
Mobility corner Mats, bands, light holds 2
Desk Assessment table, printed sheets 1 assessment at a time

The slot cap of eight is the sum of these zones without a queue. When eight people are on the floor, someone is lifting, someone is on an erg, and the sled is used in turn. A ninth person would stand. That is why walk-in training is not offered and why a late arrival may be asked to wait for the next booked hour rather than squeeze into a full slot.

Slots

Slots and bookings

Weekdays run twelve training slots. The first lift is 06:15. The last is 20:30, which ends as the floor closes at 21:30. Saturday is shorter: seven slots between 07:15 and 14:45, with the building closed at 16:00. Sunday is four slots from 08:15, with closing at 13:00. Assessment hours are booked inside the same timetable and take a 90-minute hold, so they occupy the space of a slot and the one that follows.

You book from the plan, not from a drop-in board. A slot is cancelled without charge if notice is given at least twelve hours before the start time. Inside twelve hours the slot is marked as used. The access pages state the same rule. If you work shifts, say so at intake so the weekly pattern is written against hours you can actually keep. The timetable below is the grid the studio has used since 2026. It is not a suggestion of classes. It is the hours the door is open for booked work.

Route

Getting here

The nearest station is Tiong Bahru MRT (East–West Line). From the station it is a walk of about eight minutes along Tiong Bahru Road and into Eng Hoon Street. The unit is #02-04. The stair is the ordinary shophouse stair; there is no lift in the building. If stairs are a problem, write that on the enquiry so we can say honestly whether the floor is a fit.

Street parking on Eng Hoon and the surrounding Tiong Bahru streets is limited and often short-stay. There is no reserved studio bay. Most people arrive on foot or by bus along Tiong Bahru Road. Bring indoor shoes, a water bottle, and any written medical clearance you already have. Towels and chalk are provided on the floor. You do not need to bring a programme: the sheet from the assessment is the programme.
